Getting her start artistically, Shelley worked for ground-breaking advertising agencies. Later venturing out to make use of her creative flair and love of horticulture, Shelley founded her own Landscape Design firm Renderings Ltd.
During this time Shelley was never far from a canvas and studied fine arts at various studios and schools including OCAD. These courses coupled with the training she received at George Brown College for Commercial Art, Shelley became highly skilled as an oil painter. She has placed an emphasis on colour theory bringing out the greatest depth and warmth in a painting.
“The beauty of the Canadian outdoors captivates me and compels me to create my own representation of it”
Since moving to Georgetown Ontario in 2011, Shelley has been able to focus on oil painting full time and often paints ‘en plein air’. The subject matter of her work is usually the Landscape. Her work of late has evolved into realism. Although continuing to paint plein air, her main focus is in the studio. Her work evokes an emotional stirring of serenity and stillness in the viewers of her work, as though they have been transported to her original vista. Her paintings are enjoyed in many private collections in Canada and the United States.
